Candlekeep
Type: Library-fortress — repository of all written knowledge; one of the great institutions of Faerûn Region: Sword Coast — the cliffs above the Sea of Swords, south of Baldur's Gate Status (campaign context): Referenced but unvisited. A functioning institution before the campaign's present-day chaos; its northern ambitions are represented by the Candlekeep of the North project.
What the Party Knows
- The greatest library on the Sword Coast — possibly in all Faerûn. Entry requires a gift of a book (or scroll) not already in the collection.
- The Writs of Establishment — legal documents authorizing the founding of the Candlekeep of the North — originated here, authorized by Candlekeep scholars to the Lord of Neverwinter. Teppo the Gnome is the steward of this project.
- The Candlekeep of the North, if founded, would be a northern outpost of this institution.
