Description
Nightbringer is the title-rank given to initiates of Shar's order at this temple. They serve the practical functions of the sanctum — bringing food and wine to the Priory for guests, maintaining the oil lamps, attending to the temple's daily operation. They are not guards; they are not the Dark Mother's plate-armored escorts. They are the junior clergy.
They wear dark robes. They surrender their names upon entering the order; a Nightbringer at this temple is referred to by her title, not any personal name.
The Unnamed Initiate (Session 036)
One Nightbringer — a young blonde elf — interacted with the party during their long rest in the Priory. She had been at the temple approximately one year. She was carrying a controlled disdain for the guest-service errand (evidenced by Ubys's insight read) and was persuaded to join the party at their table. Over shared food and the temple's potent dark wine, she shared:
- Initiates surrender their names upon joining. Shar is, was, and shall.
- The barrier between the Material Plane and the Shadowfell blurs throughout the temple; she has probably been in the Shadowfell without knowing it.
- A shadow dragon visited the cavern beyond the circular chamber at some point in her time here. She did not recall its name.
- Two other visitor groups were currently in the temple — she let this slip and immediately fled the room.
She was disciplined accordingly by the Dark Mother after this conversation. Her current status is unknown.
