Black Spire Chamber
Type: Ritual chamber / Blight anchor Region: Tunnels Beneath the Toke Inn — past the wererat den, beyond the obsidian-tendril corridor First Visited: Session 029 Status (latest): Cleared of operators — 8 Grimlocks killed, the wall-glyphs no longer glow; the spire itself remains intact
What the Party Knows
- A black spire rises from the stone floor at the chamber's center. Slightly warm to the touch; emanates gently; very smooth.
- 8 wall glyphs ring the chamber, faintly glowing blue when the chamber is active.
- The chamber was being run by 8 Grimlocks sitting in a circle, fingertips touching, in a weird resonance that powered the wall-glyphs.
- Killing the Grimlocks broke the channel. The blue glow stopped. The spire is now silent — but the structural anchor remains.
- Beneath the chamber, the spire continues — accessible via a passage of rubble — to the lower-spire altar chamber, where 2 Ogres were being prepared as the next channeling crew (helmets being painted with glyphs).
What the Party Suspects
- The spire is a Blight-anchor — interplanar. Tied to the soul-sucking necromancy Ubys identifies via Raven Queen dream-knowledge as piercing a distant dead world, and to the demon-plane tendrils AC has seen on multiple planes.
- The spire is part of a grid. Possibly linked to:
- The dark conduit through the Leilon tower (session 027).
- Other anchors yet to be discovered on the Sword Coast.
