Description
A massive cathedral built in Orcus's aesthetic: flesh and bone as construction material. Stained glass windows are made from actual flesh stretched over bone frames, backlit by inner fire. Every surface carries unholy symbols. The smell of offerings — old and recent — is present throughout. It is, in context, a complete and sincere expression of devotion to the Lord of Undeath.
The cathedral is the primary religious site in Evernight and hosts a transit portal to the material plane (specifically to the Dessarin Valley region). Mithraides had been using this portal to transit his 5,000-gnoll army to the Forgotten Realms.
What the Party Knows
- It contains a portal to the Dessarin Valley, Forgotten Realms. The party used it in Session 054 to escape the Shadowfell. Toll: one living mortal sacrifice to Orcus.
- Ursuntos presides here. His authority over the portal is absolute; he sets the toll and no one in Evernight overrides him.
- The portal has been used continuously by Mithraides' gnolls. Thousands of gnolls transited through here before the party arrived.
