Ursuntos

Description
10–12 feet tall. Arched posture — a spine that grew to fit the space of absolute devotion rather than any mortal blueprint. He carries a bone scepter that resembles (and may be derived from) a Rod of Orcus. His crown is made of dragon bone.
He was once mortal. His transformation was earned rather than given: he captured a priest of Bahamut and ate him alive over several days, deliberately, while the priest maintained his faith to the end. Orcus granted the transformation as a reward for this demonstration of devotion and cruelty.
He is Evernight's most powerful religious figure.
What the Party Knows
- He runs the Temple of Filth. Orcus's primary Evernight cathedral. He has authority over the gnoll transit portal housed within.
- He recognized Crowley's Zariel affiliation. When AC performed the Zariel/fiend secret handshake in Abyssal, Ursuntos identified it immediately and was hostile — Zariel and Orcus are enemies. AC bluffed that he was operating off-script as a personal favor; Ursuntos accepted this reluctantly.
- His price for portal use: a living mortal sacrifice, given to Orcus. He would not accept substitutes. Orin volunteered and did not survive the ritual.
- He has a ghoul army. As the party left, he told AC: "The ghoul army you requested is forming and ready, whenever your master requests." Ursuntos appears to have interpreted AC's Zariel cover as an official request. A ghoul army is now being assembled under the assumption that Zariel (via AC) ordered it.
