The Drider Warehouse
Type: Urban dungeon site — occupied warehouse Location: Waterdeep — Sea Ward (near the Silmerhelve family's district) Status: Contested — occupied by driders (former Bregan D'aerthe guards, curse-transformed) First Reference: Session 058
What the Party Knows
- A warehouse in the Sea Ward of Waterdeep, formerly operated by Bregan D'aerthe (a drow mercenary guild) as a contraband staging point for Underdark goods.
- A cleric of Myrkul attempted to curse the guards; the curse went wrong and transformed the drow guards into driders (half-drow / half-spider hybrids). The problem got worse.
- The city watch has not cleared the warehouse. The Desolate Order wants it cleared for the Cassandra family — a Waterdeep family the Order is backing that has made fiendish deals. The party accepted the job; they keep whatever contraband is inside.
- Session 060 — first attempt. Crowley and Emmith (just the two of them) entered the front doors in daylight. They survived two rounds of combat and retreated with significant damage. Intelligence gathered:
- Five driders — the "Gang of Five," self-announced in Deep Speech.
- They fight in 3D — on walls, crates, and ceiling. Dust on the floor is undisturbed.
- They have acid spit (resisted by Crowley's new armor), darkness (bonus action; 20-foot magical sphere, negates darkvision), web (20-foot cube), and multi-attack with blade-like forelegs.
- They have an apparent aversion to sunlight.
- Interior layout: main floor, left elevated platform (~40–50 ft up), central pit, catwalks and rafters in the high ceiling.
- One drider took approximately 35 damage + 32 necrotic (Crowley's Painkiller retaliation); it may be seriously bloodied.
- The drow woman outside — a Bregan D'aerthe operative who escaped transformation and has been waiting at the alley entrance. She wants her house insignia amulet retrieved from one of the driders. She's offering payment.
