What the Party Knows
- Monks of Ilmater passed the party on the High Road in session 012, heading for Yartar.
- Sessions 063–064 — First visit. Yartar is a fortified river town at the confluence of the Dessarin and Surbrin rivers. Notable landmarks:
- Shield Tower — town guard barracks and Knights of Vindictus chapter HQ, on the west bank of the Surbrin. Site of Mythrades's escape and the Dark Gate.
- Happy Hall of Fortuitous Happenings — Temple of Tymora (Lady Luck) at the center of town. The same goddess whose shrine was desecrated near the Toke Inn in Session 001. "Dare much and the Lady will keep you."
- Flying over the city is prohibited without a special license.
- Olref Silmerhelve (Session 059) recommended Yartar as an alternative northern supply route to Westbridge when the Goldenfields road is blocked by gnolls.
Session 064 Update
- Party departed Yartar. The Dark Gate is still open in the Shield Tower dungeon. Sir Titus is holding the perimeter. The Order of the Gauntlet has been summoned. The party elected not to pursue Mythrades through the portal and left.
- Status: Active threat — the Shield Tower contains an open Dark Gate; Mythrades has escaped to his benefactor; town guard casualties include at least 3 confirmed dead by terror and 30+ ritual killings.
