The Three Robed Bodies
Type: Three deceased members of the Grey-Robed Order (species: 1 Dwarf + 2 Half-Elves) Status (latest): Decomposed by Ubys in session 032 (reverence move; Ubys preferred Decompose over the Grey-Flame Torch's monochrome unmaking, leaving a bone-trace in case the Order's living members come for their dead). Found: Floor of the Rat Queen Chamber, in front of the dormant Netherese Portal — discovered by the party at the close of session 031; investigated in earnest in session 032.
Description
Three bodies, out of place in the cave system:
- The Dwarf. (Body 1.) Carrying the Grey-Flame Torch (in-hand or near-hand at the moment of death). Two Grey-Flame Candles (belt-pouch + set-out). A backpack (possibly Bag-of-Holding-class; appeared empty; felt magical).
- The first Half-Elf. (Body 2.) Same kit, minus the torch. Two candles. Backpack.
- The second Half-Elf. (Body 3.) Same kit. Two candles. Backpack.
All three wore non-native textile robes — not wool, not cotton. Lighter, finer-quality, the weave is not from this plane per Ubys's read.
What the Party Knows
- Time of death: within the last month (Ubys's Medicine 21).
- Cause of death: killed by the Rat Queen before she was bound to the obsidian Blight-spike.
- Posthumous behavior of the bodies: the Blight avoids them. Even a month-or-more after death, the chamber's necrotic substrate will not encroach on the trio.
- They came through the Netherese Portal. Per Ubys's read of the portal — Netherese-vintage, thousand-plus-years-old, dormant. The Order activated and entered from the other side; the door closed (or was closed) behind them.
