What the Party Knows
- He is the only dragon left on this plane. The World Eater's emergence drove or killed every other dragon. Zago has survived by staying in the air and picking off small gnoll hunting parties. He is old, tough, and resourceful — and he nearly died in an analukin ambush before the party arrived.
- He knows Crowley. Zago was a fixture in the Brookside region during the original campaign. He remembers Crowley as a child — "Leigha's brother — the strange kid who was always more interested in the keep than anything else." He recognized the brimstone smell of a Zarielian contractor immediately.
- His lair was stolen. "The nobles" — the Wraith King's lieutenants — took over his lair and seized his entire hoard when the World Eater rose. The gnolls then looted the hoard's secondary storage into the bear cave. Most of what the party found in Session 050 was Zago's.
- He gave the party critical intelligence. The Wraith King and Mythrades are at Bedegar Keep, operating a portal that channels souls. The binding mechanism is a stone under the keep's floor. Cut the tether → plane goes free.
- He cannot enter the protective bubbles. The bubbles admit only humanoids. Zago has confirmed this personally. He cannot shelter with the survivors or access the chapel. He is aware the bubbles also exclude food animals, which complicates the camp's food supply.
- He is mentoring Falkor. He recognized something in Falkor — "a spark of the divine, waiting for something to complete him." He offered to take Falkor for a day to teach him dragon ways. KeYs agreed. Falkor and Zago departed together at the close of Session 051.
- He pledged alliance — with a caveat. "I then shall follow you and help you fulfill this destiny. And I promise to try extremely hard not to feast upon your friends."
- He has 36 HP at session close. He is an adult bronze dragon (significant force), but he is wounded and recovering. He is not at full strength for the Bedagar Keep assault.
