Heroes of the Lance
Type: Historical / legendary heroes of the Second War of the Lance Era: Three decades pre-campaign Status (latest): Vanished (per Campaign Overview's Six Truths) — the great heroes of that age have vanished. First Reference: Campaign Overview / Session Zero First On-Screen Storytelling: Session 017 (Teppo's campfire recital)
Description
The Heroes of the Lance are the great champions of the Second War of the Lance — the conflict three decades before the campaign in which the Cult of the Dragon raised vast armies and looted the Sword Coast trying to summon Tahkisis / Tiamat. The Heroes drove back that effort. They are named in Teppo's journal (per session 015) and recited by Teppo at the campfire in session 017.
Known / Suspected Members
- Lynx — the Gnome Druid; her grove (Druid Grove of Lynx) holds Tahkisis' Kiss in its heart-tree. (Confirmed session 018.)
- Vlokgar — figure of contested affiliation; the Sons and Daughters of Vlokgar take their name from him. (Possibly a Hero of the Lance, possibly an antagonist of that age — Greg, clarify.)
- The wielders of Tahkisis' Kiss — plural; per the dagger's lore, the Heroes who slew dragons of good with it (and their fall is part of the campaign's "fallen Dragons of Good" line in the Six Truths).
- The slayers of Bahamut — Shadar-Kai involvement specifically (the basis for the Harpers' anti–Shadar-Kai ward at the Druid Grove of Lynx). (Confirmed session 018.)
What the Party Has Learned (Session 017's recital)
Teppo told the bar fight with a Fire Giant story, embellished by Thaumaturgy. Other beats from the recital:
- "In those days…" — a great army from the North, gryphon-riders, dragons.
- The role of Vlokgar.
- (Other named heroes — Greg, fill in if Teppo named more.)
