Jorry Tolk
Role: Innkeeper of the Toke Inn Status (latest): Alive but comatose — cured of the Blight in session 032 (the cure nearly killed him; he is recovering in the rookery). First Appearance: Session 001
Description
Jorry runs the Toke Inn, a coastal inn near Leilon. He is the father of Rhovan Tolk and an old adventurer himself — the hidden chest in the basement that Rhovan plundered held Jorry's old armor and weapons.
What the Party Knows
- His son Rhovan disappeared the night of session 001. The party recovered him from a Cult of Baphomet sacrifice in the tunnels below the inn in session 002.
- His household has been suffering from a recurring sickness — Roz and Dorrin Stonefish both fell ill, and Lessie's healing kept failing to take. (This is the first on-screen brush with The Blight.)
- He keeps a hidden chest of old gear in the basement.
- He was glad to see Rhovan returned, and offered the party free rooms for the night at the close of session 002.
- Session 028: Found in the Toke Inn rookery — very sick, shutters nailed down around him, most of the rookery's birds Blighted around his feet. Moist casts Lesser Restoration and stabilizes him. He refuses Rhovan's offered cure (lycanthropy as Blight-counter) — instead asking to be locked in the rookery, in self-quarantine. Corvin, his head raven, survives the Blight uninfected. The Blight has gravely wounded the inn around him; Jorry himself is alive but bedridden.
- Session 032 — Cured. Ubys returns from the Rat Queen Chamber with the Grey-Flame Torch (taken from the trio of Grey-Robed Order dead). He gets Rhovan's assent on the way up to the rookery. Pairing the grey flame with his healer's specialty, Ubys purges the Blight from Jorry's body. The cure nearly kills him. Jorry falls into a coma to recover, but the Blight is gone. (He is the first cure of record — see The Blight for the lycanthropy / grey-flame ladder.) Ubys also proposes infecting Jorry with lycanthropy as a redundant counter; Rhovan disagrees, and the proposal is dropped.
