Ogremoch

Type: Lore / Legend — summoned elemental power (Prince of Evil Earth in the wider cosmology) Role: The cataclysm-bringer behind the destruction of Westbridge ~80 years ago Status: Defeated (banished/destroyed) in the previous campaign era by the original heroes; survives now only as local folklore Canonical spelling: Ogremoch (folklore and early session notes garble it as "Ogremok"; Session 066 used "Ogremont" — both are corrected to Ogremoch) First Reference (this campaign): Session 065 (folklore); detailed Session 066

What the Party Knows

  • Folklore only. To the present party, Ogremoch is a ghost story. Locals around the Dessarin Valley avoid the Westbridge ruins, warning that "Ogremok will rise again." The taboo has kept the site empty for eight decades.
  • What actually happened (Greg canon): roughly 80 years ago, cultists operating out of the great underground forge beneath the region summoned Ogremoch to cause havoc in the world. The summoning and the ensuing catastrophe — tied to a detonated Chaos Seed at the Westbridge town square — leveled the town, scarred the land into the crater that is now Umsheryoth's pond, and killed three Knights of Samular (commemorated by the shrine outside the ruins).
  • He was defeated by the previous campaign's heroes — the original-campaign characters: Lynx, Vlokgar, Alondriel, Brick, and others. Their stand against Ogremoch is part of why the site carries such weight.
